About Nose Surgery
A rhinoplasty is one of the most common and popular surgical procedures performed at Mizuguchi Plastic Surgery. Dr. Nana Mizuguchi, double board certified in general and plastic surgery, offers nose surgery to patients at his Louisville, KY practice using advanced, precise techniques. You can benefit from a rhinoplasty if you have enlarged nostrils, a crooked or humped bridge, a large or abnormal nasal tip, and other cosmetic issues that may be a result of genetics or trauma. Each nose job will be unique and customized to suit your needs, so Dr. Mizuguchi will work closely with you to determine your desired outcome before the procedure. Whether you are wanting subtle changes or a complete transformation, he can manipulate the cartilage, tissues, and reshape the skin for a new, more appealing look that can greatly enhance the overall appearance of your face and symmetry.

"I just had my surgery and it was the best experience ever. Dr Mizuguchi and his staff are very attentive and make you feel comfortable. I would not go to anyone else. (Believe me when I say I would not go to anyone because it took me 6 years in looking for a doctor that I felt comfortable with. I even had consultations in Miami and Dominican Republic.)"- A.Y. / Facebook / Jun 07, 2019
"I saw Dr. Mizaguchi for lip fillers several times. He is absolutely amazing. My results were always beautiful and consistent. Never did I leave disappointed. I moved out of state last year. I could not find a surgeon that could deliver such great results like Dr. Mizaguchi. I just traveled over 600 miles to have him do my fillers again. Once again, turned out amazing!"- M. / Google / May 24, 2019

What to Expect
An outpatient procedure, rhinoplasty is performed while you are under general anesthesia at an accredited surgical facility. Depending on the technique used and your unique needs, surgery can last 2 – 4 hours. There are two types of nose surgery procedures: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty.
Open rhinoplasty, or external rhinoplasty, involves our plastic surgeon making a small incision on the underside of the nose between the nostrils to give him better access to the lower and middle parts of the nose. Our surgeon can then manipulate tissue, skin, and bone as needed. In addition, the placement of the incisions allows for minimal scarring. Open rhinoplasty is used for more complex nose surgeries.
With closed rhinoplasty, or endonasal rhinoplasty, incisions are made inside of the nostrils. This technique is usually used for less complex surgeries, such as when the nose already has a good shape and isn’t considered too wide or too long. Due to the placement of the incisions, there should be no visible scarring.
After surgery, your nose can be stabilized with splints made of soft material. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled for the next day where the splints will be removed and external dressings will be placed on the nose, which will remain for about two days. You should expect some pain, discomfort, bruising, and swelling after surgery that should fully subside within a few weeks. The nose will reposition and evolve into its surgically enhanced shape for months after surgery. The finished product should be fully realized within a year with a beautifully shaped, positioned, and proportionate nose.
