About Nose Surgery
A rhinoplasty is one of the most common and popular surgical procedures performed at Mizuguchi Plastic Surgery. "At age 54, I had a tummy tuck with liposuction done six months ago. I followed that up a few weeks ago with a breast lift. I could not be happier with the results from these procedures performed by Dr Mizuguchi. I get more compliments from people. The results exceeded my expectations. The nurses and staff are also very helpful and friendly. I am an extremely pleased patient and will recommend him to everyone.Patsy in Louisville, KY"- Anonymous / Healthgrades / May 08, 2019

"I recently had a full tummy tuck done. Dr Mizuguchi also performed lipo on my flanks, sewed my abdominal cavity together (kids, lol), and fixed not just one but 4 hernias. He did a fantastic job. I haven't had this flat of a stomach in years. My new belly button is super cute too. He has great bedside manner and an artist with a scalpel. I couldn't be happier."- S.H. / Facebook / Apr 12, 2019
What to Expect
An outpatient procedure, rhinoplasty is performed while you are under general anesthesia at an accredited surgical facility. Depending on the technique used and your unique needs, surgery can last 2 – 4 hours. There are two types of nose surgery procedures: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty.
Open rhinoplasty, or external rhinoplasty, involves our plastic surgeon making a small incision on the underside of the nose between the nostrils to give him better access to the lower and middle parts of the nose. Our surgeon can then manipulate tissue, skin, and bone as needed. In addition, the placement of the incisions allows for minimal scarring. Open rhinoplasty is used for more complex nose surgeries.
With closed rhinoplasty, or endonasal rhinoplasty, incisions are made inside of the nostrils. This technique is usually used for less complex surgeries, such as when the nose already has a good shape and isn’t considered too wide or too long. Due to the placement of the incisions, there should be no visible scarring.
After surgery, your nose can be stabilized with splints made of soft material. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled for the next day where the splints will be removed and external dressings will be placed on the nose, which will remain for about two days. You should expect some pain, discomfort, bruising, and swelling after surgery that should fully subside within a few weeks. The nose will reposition and evolve into its surgically enhanced shape for months after surgery. The finished product should be fully realized within a year with a beautifully shaped, positioned, and proportionate nose.
