About Breast lift with aug

A breast lift with an augmentation is one of the best ways to completely transform and improve the overall appearance of your breasts. Sometimes a single breast procedure by itself isn't enough to give you the results that you're looking for. Dr. Nana Mizuguchi, our double board-certified plastic surgeon, can combine both a lift and augmentation surgery to elevate and restore sagging breasts while increasing the size and shape. Usually this is performed as one continuous procedure at Mizuguchi Plastic Surgery, but you can have them scheduled separately if needed. The first step is to set up an appointment at our office in Louisville, KY to decide on your treatment plan and implant size. Call us today for a stress-free consultation.

Ideal Candidates

You will be a good candidate for a breast lift with an augmentation if:

  • You have sagging or asymmetrical breasts with loose skin
  • You desire to increase the size and improve the shape of your breasts
  • Your goals cannot be achieved through one surgical procedure
  • You have realistic expectations for your outcome

What to Expect

This surgery usually begins with our plastic surgeon performing the breast lift first. During this portion, any excess skin will be trimmed and the breast tissue will be tightened and elevated. Sometimes the nipple or areola may need to be repositioned as well to create a uniformed look. Before closing the incision, implants (which will have been previously discussed and decided upon) will be placed underneath the chest muscle. The incision will then be carefully closed. Some scarring may result, but Dr. Mizuguchi is very experienced in producing as little and as discreet scarring as possible.

Anticipated Results

Typically, you can resume your daily activities after one week, but strenuous exercises should still be avoided for around 4 – 6 weeks, as there will be some discomfort and swelling associated with both the lift and implant procedures. Your final results will usually appear within 3 – 6 months when the breasts have adjusted to their new shape and begin to take on the appearance that you desire. You should be able to enjoy your results and restored bustline for many years to come, with the possibility of needing replacement implants within the next 10 – 20 years.

Breast Lift With Augmentation FAQ

How much does a breast lift with augmentation cost?
Your costs for a breast lift with augmentation will vary depending on many factors, particularly whether you choose implants (silicone or saline) or a fat transfer. In addition, some lift procedures have more complexity depending on the surgical case. During a thorough consultation, Dr. Mizuguchi will create a unique surgical plan and then estimate your costs. Mizuguchi Plastic Surgery accepts a number of payment methods, and we can help you find low-interest medical financing.

Will a breast lift with augmentation correct sagging?
The benefit of a breast lift with augmentation is that it improves the size of your breasts while also correcting sag by removing loose skin. The lift portion of your surgery will also adjust the position of your native breast tissue — so the results are firm and perky. This is important since augmenting breasts with mild sagging may create a less than ideal outcome if a breast lift isn't performed to address the sag. To address sagging, a lift should be completed first, and then a fat transfer or implants can be added. In your consultation with Dr. Mizuguchi, he will understand your needs and wants before performing a physical exam of your chest. Following this, he will be able to give you his opinion on whether you should get implants, a lift, or a combination of both.

Which incision is best for my surgery?
Breast surgery incisions have come a long way in recent years, with new techniques being developed that helps minimize the appearance of scarring. The actual incision type that is best for your surgery will be chosen based on the severity of sag and the type of implants being used. To correct severe breast sag, an anchor-shaped incision pattern is most effective. When creating your surgical plan, Dr. Mizuguchi will go over incision options and which fits your needs. Regardless of the method is selected, Dr. Mizuguchi makes incisions carefully — so your results look natural.

How long will my results last?
If you don't have significant weight fluctuations or get pregnant, your breast augmentation with a lift should last for a long time. While both saline and silicone implants can last for many years, they do need to be assessed regularly to check for issues. During surgery, Dr. Mizuguchi places your implants with a method that reduces breast sagging. This will help with the long-term outcome. It's important to understand that while cosmetic breast surgery will give a great result, natural aging will continue. After many years, you might start to see loose skin and sagging again, but this can be improved with a second procedure.

How bad is the scarring?
Dr. Mizuguchi performs surgical augmentation with a lift so that all incisions are thin and small. He does his best to make incisions in areas that are difficult to see, such as in the breast folds or along the areola border. If you properly care for them, the scars from your breast surgery will, in time, fade — so they blend with your normal skin. Dr. Mizuguchi or a member of his team will discuss scar care instructions you should follow after your surgery — so your scars heal smooth and flat.
