At Mizuguchi Plastic Surgery, Dr. Mizuguchi administers radiofrequency assisted liposuction (RFAL) to each treatment area, and the heat applicator safely contracts the skin for a tightened finish. BodyTite is often used as an alternative to invasive fat removal cosmetic surgery.

What is the difference between liposuction and BodyTite?

The primary difference between traditional liposuction and BodyTite is that BodyTite possesses the heating technology to tighten the surrounding skin during liposuction. Liposuction can be combined with other skin tightening procedures, especially if a client has saggy or loose skin.

Liposuction can also be paired with skin tightening surgery if loose skin is too impaired for BodyTite treatments.

How liposuction works

Liposuction is an outpatient procedure that takes approximately 1 – 2 hours to complete. Treatments can be performed using local or general anesthesia, depending on the patient’s comfort levels or the number of treatment sites. The cannula is inserted in a small incision under the skin, and the fat is gently heated, liquefied, and removed. Once the patient is approved for discharge, they may return home for recovery.

How BodyTite treatments work

Like traditional liposuction, BodyTite can be performed using either local or general anesthesia. The BodyTite applicator is inserted through small incisions in the skin, which heats and liquefies the targeted fat. Simultaneously, the applicator gently heats and contracts the skin for a tighter appearance. Each treatment area takes approximately 30 – 45 minutes to complete.

What recovery periods look like

Depending on the patient, recovery may last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Patients should expect temporary soreness, bruising, and tenderness at each treatment site, which will subside within a few days. Dr. Mizuguchi may recommend wearing a pressure garment to optimize healing and maximize your results. Patients who adhere to precautions during recovery should experience minimal scarring from both procedures.
